Schenk Smith’s law offices are located on Ponce de Leon Avenue in the Poncey-Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta. We always tell our clients that, “If you can find Ponce, you can find us.”
But like other highways in Atlanta, Ponce de Leon Avenue, also called just ‘Ponce,’ has problems with congestion, often bottlenecking and curving abruptly as it winds its way through 14 miles of Fulton and Dekalb Counties. Connecting downtown to Decatur, Midtown, and Stone Mountain, among other cities and neighborhoods, Ponce functions as a principal thoroughfare for tens of thousands of drivers.
As such, this often scenic road can also be extremely dangerous to navigate, especially during morning and afternoon rush hour, or when it rains. Ponce mostly runs East to West, meaning that the dusk or morning sun can easily blind drivers’ vision. Add to this the fact that Ponce does not contain raised or separating barriers between opposing lanes, and you have a recipe for car accidents.
Even from our offices, we often see the blinking red lights of emergency vehicles as they rush to a car accident on Ponce. In fact, Fulton and Dekalb counties consistently have the highest roadway fatality rates in the State. The State of Georgia saw over 1400 roadway deaths in 2015, with a large percentage coming from these two counties.
This is why drivers should be especially careful when travelling on Ponce de Leon Avenue. If you or a loved one have been injured in a car accident and you are wondering what to do next, then please do not hesitate, call and speak to one of our experienced Atlanta personal injury lawyers today. Our consultations are always free.
